Esperanto Vocabulary Trees
Words
A word is a complete and meaningful Esperanto word. Words are categorized according to a set of word categories (main category plus sub category, written as main category – sub category). Sub category general is used in many cases. A word is a sequence of one more atoms.
Examples:
li [he] categorized as pronoun - personal
katido [kitten] categorized as noun - general
malbela [ugly] categorized as adjective - general
New words are entered either by explicitly selecting the atoms they are formed from, or by typing the atoms with underscores e.g. kat_id_o. The underscores separating the atoms are mandatory!
RULES
A word made of two or more atoms must include at least one atom of main category root.
Single-atom words can only be made from atoms flagged as independent.
Nouns, adjectives and adverbs are only represented in singular form (nominative) (plural and/or accusative forms must not be entered).
Verbs are only represented in infinitive form (other verb forms (tenses) must not be entered).
TRANSLATION
The translation-field of the word shows its translation. The infinitive form of verbs are used (without the to). Use only letters, besides comma and parenthesis. Examples of usage can optionally be entered in brackets on the format [usageSentence: translation, usageSentence: translation, ... ], e.g. dog [la hundo estas griza: the dog is gray].
Words also have (indirectly) semantics derived from the atoms they are formed of. The derived semantics are displayed in some parts of EVT.
