Amihan was sold after 11 pleasant and enjoyable seasons
Although the wood testifies that boat always has been well maintained, Leif Holme restored (1999) the boat to mint condition, and installed the Volvo B20 engine. Some minor comforts were also installed including a new fresh water tank, flush toilet and septic tank, a remote-controlled anchor winch,and davits.
Engine and drive
The B20 engine came from a Volvo BV202 military belt wagon with the (probably) existing Volvo Penta drive. The engine and drive was subsequently replaced (2009) by the present owner with a new Mercruiser 2500CC 135HP gasoline engine, Alpha drive, console and steering.
About the name
Amihan is the Tagalog name for the northeast monsoon, which gives dry sunny summer weather in Batangas and other provinces in the Philippines. The wind blows from November to May - from northeast early in the season, then east and finally from southeast by the end of half-year period. Amihan defines the local beach and seasports season.
