The MC knowledge base version 6 (29-Mar-2006) includes specification data for more than 180 motorcycles. It includes a fuzzy-set sub-model which helps you select a bike which fits your requirements. Please note that the KB was designed to illustrate a Pro/3 inexact rule ranking application, rather than being a serious bike selection system. Refer to the Bike Magazine (www.greatmagazines.co.uk/bike) for comprehensive review and information on motorcycles.

As downloaded, the MC KB has derived all sentences up to the part which involves consultation with user.

The knowledge base includes the following sentence types (in addition to the 'bike is suitable' sentence type which is concluded after an interview with the user - refer to the inexact rule network):

A subset of the metric-unit specifications (`bike has metric
specifications`) pertaining to engine size. The sentence type is
introduced for query purposes.
EXAMPLE: "bike with model name "Aprilia Caponord" has basic engine size
with engine type 2 - stroke, cylinders 2, cc 998 and bhp 87!"
 

bike has consumption 0 95
A subset of the metric-unit specifications (`bike has metric
specifications`) pertaining to gas consumption. The sentence type is
introduced for query purposes.
EXAMPLE: "bike with model name "Aprilia Caponord" has consumption with
litres per ten kliometers 0.6!"
 

bike has cost factor 0 180
The bikes are sub-divided into cost-factor groups (0-9) based on `cost
factors` i.e. aspects of the bikes which should determine their
`costly-ness`. The cost-factor is determined by a inexact rule network.
EXAMPLE: "bike with model name "Aprilia Caponord" has cost factor with
membership grade 0.709 and group 7!"

A subset of the metric-unit specifications (`bike has metric
specifications`) pertaining to engine power The sentence type is
introduced for query purposes.

A subset of the metric-unit specifications (`bike has metric
specifications`) pertaining to engine size. The sentence type is
introduced for query purposes.

Estimated current US$ price derived from a historical GBP price by
factoring in a 3% annual inflation and converting to US$ at current
exchange rate. However, practically all bikes have updated GBP-prices as
of February 2006).

US $ price with price 12,104!"

for query purposes.

Attempts to express to what extent a bike is favourably priced by
comparing the price with its cost factor and the average priced for the
bike type.
EXAMPLE: "bike with model name "Aprilia Caponord" is favourably priced
with factor 88%!"

Home country of the bike`s manufacturer. Some bikes are actually
manufactured in a different country.
EXAMPLE: "bike with model name "Aprilia Caponord" is made in country with

States the suitability rating of all bike models.

All basic and derived specifications for the bikes. The sentence type is
introduced for query purposes.
EXAMPLE: "bike model specifications with model name "Aprilia Caponord",
cc 998, engine type 2 - stroke, cylinders 2, bhp 87, transmission chain,
weight 215, top speed 220, tank 25, consumption 0.6, kilometer distance

Relates the manufacturers` countries to world regions.
EXAMPLE: "country with name Italy is part of world region with region

The exchange rate used to translate from GBP to USD prices.

The original bike specification details used as input to the knowledge
base.

Specifies the home country for each manufacturer.

This sentence type is used to relate manufacturer and model names to the
concatenated manufacturer + model name used in most sentence types.
EXAMPLE: "manufacturer with name Aprilia makes bike model with model
"Caponord" and model name "Aprilia Caponord" !"

price correlation is measured 0 1
Measures the correlation between the assessed cost factors and the actual
price (i.e. to validate the credibility of the cost factors).
EXAMPLE: "price correlation with correlation 0.67 is measured !"
 

price range is observed 0 1
States the price range and average for all models.
EXAMPLE: "price range with lowest price 3415, highest price 35079 and
average price 12748 is observed !"
 

price range is observed for bike group 0 10
States the price range and average for each cost-factor group.
EXAMPLE: "price range with lowest price 8061, highest price 20605 and
average price 11248 is observed for bike group with group 5 !"

Shows the price range and average for each bike type.
EXAMPLE: "price range with lowest price 3953, highest price 21044 and
