Pro/3
has three backup facilities:
-
Source-level backup backs
up selected/all types of knowledge to text files using XML, NL or
PR-formats. This is the most important backup since it generally can be
restored independent of Pro/3 versions. It can also be edited manually
if required/desired.
-
SQL backup/restore
backs of the entire knowledge base to a low-level restorable, but
essentially non-editable text-file format. This backup is available only
for SQL-type databases.
Backup/restore is selected from the
File-menu. Most likely the SQL database you
are using has its own backup/restore facilities. These are in almost all
cases preferable to the Pro/3 SQL backup option, and should thus be
used.
-
Session backup/restore
is a simple mechanism for copying the knowledge base file upon opening.
This functionality makes it possible to abandon changes during a session
with Pro/3. The facility is available only for
3KB-type databases.
